PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device that can improve a contrast ratio of image light by reducing diffraction light.SOLUTION: There is provided an image display device comprising: an illumination optical system that includes a light source; a spatial optical modulation element that emits image light forming a projection image on the basis of incident light from the illumination optical system; and a projection optical system that projects the image light from the spatial optical modulation element to a projection target material, where the spatial optical modulation element includes a pixel structure corresponding to each of pixels constituting the projection image, and the pixel structure includes a first pixel structure that provides a phase difference to the incident light and a second pixel structure that does not provide a phase difference to the incident light.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
