<p>A method for recovering a polymer from a polarizing plate is provided to effectively recover a polymer from a polymer film used as a protective film for an asymmetric polarizing plate as well as symmetric polarizing plate, and to reutilized the recovered polymer for producing a regenerated polymer film and polarizing plate. A method for recovering a polymer from a polarizing plate comprises the steps of: contacting a polarizing plate having a polarizer and a first polymer film and a second polymer film on both surfaces thereof with an aqueous liquid; and applying a shear force to the polarizing plate to separate the first polymer film from the polarizer. The first polymer film and the second polymer have different water permeability levels. A shear force ranging from 1N to 200N is applied to 1 cm^2 of the area of the polarizer.
