PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mass spectroscope capable of simultaneously achieving faster scanning while maintaining relatively high sensitivity, and a method for controlling the mass spectroscope.SOLUTION: A mass spectroscope 1 includes: an ion source 2 which ionizes a sample; a collision cell 40 which performs a discharge operation for discharging stored ions after performing a storage operation for storing at least some of the ions generated by the ion source 2; a second analysis unit 50 which selects a target ion from the ions discharged by the collision cell 40 on the basis of a mass-to-charge ratio; a detector 60 which detects the target ion; an analog signal processing unit 80 which converts a signal from the detector 60 to voltage; and an AD converter 90 which converts a signal from the analog signal processing unit 80 to a digital signal by sampling. At least parts of two signals output from the analog signal processing unit 80 according to two ion pulses generated as a result of two continuous discharge operations by the collision cell 40 overlap temporally. |
