PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metallic electrode capable of controlling the size of the effective surface area of an electrode to a projection area much greater than appearance by contriving the surface of the electrode, and to provide a tilt sensor capable of using a differential circuit even if it is set to a small detection angle. SOLUTION: In the metal electrode 20, irregularities 23a, 23b are formed on the electrode surfaces 22a, 22b by etching or shot treatment, thus increasing an apparent area (projection area) three-dimensionally, and increasing the effective surface area. By adjusting the ratio of a treatment surface to the electrode surfaces 22a, 22b, the degree of treatment (depth of irregularities), or the like, an increase/decrease in the effective area can be adjusted. By arranging a mobile unit between electrodes movably and detecting a change in capacitance generated according to the travel of the mobile unit for applying to the tilt sensor for detecting the tilt of a case to which the electrode is mounted, the degree of freedom for setting a detection angle for detecting the tilt can be obtained.
