PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic transmission of a structure reduced in size in the axial direction, even if two clutches are arranged in parallel on the central side and the outside on an input shaft. SOLUTION: This automatic transmission has: a first clutch 41 connecting and disconnecting the input shaft 4 and a rotary member; and a second clutch 42 connecting and disconnecting the input shaft 4 and the other rotary member. A first drum 102 of the first clutch 41 has a cylindrical part 120 and a bottom part 122 for supporting a friction plate 106, and a second drum 202 of a second clutch 42 has a cylindrical part 220 for supporting a friction plate 206. The cylindrical part 220 of the second drum 42 is arranged inside the cylindrical part 120 of the first drum, and is connected to the cylindrical part 120 of the first drum 102 via a connecting member 221 passing through between the friction plate 106 and a piston 108 stored on the bottom part 122 side of the first drum 102. A cutout part 223 is arranged in a plurality of places in the peripheral direction in the connecting member 221, and a comb-teeth-shaped pressing part 130 pressing the friction plate 106 by extending in the axial direction by passing through the cutout part 223 of the connecting member 221, is arranged in an end part of the piston 108 of the first clutch 41.
