A method and an apparatus of controlling heat of an LED are provided to supply an excess current higher than a predefined current to the LED and adjust a supply time of the excess current. Electric current of a constant level higher than predefined current is applied to at least one LED. The supply and interruption of the excess current to the LED is periodically switched to control time of the excess current supplied to the LED. The supply time of the excess current to the LED is determined at such a degree that the LED is not deteriorated and broken down. The interruption time of the excess current is determined based on a heating state of the LED.
