The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for treating glioma, which comprises an indolinone compound, MAZ51 (3-(4-dimethylamino-naphthelen-1-ylmethylene)-1,3-dihydroindol-2-one), as an active ingredient. After glioma cells are treated with MAZ51 compound according to the present invention, it is shown that a significant morphological change occurs due to the clustering and aggregation of F-actin and microtubules of glioma cells and the cell cycle of glioma cells are arrested at G2/M phase. Therefore, MAZ51 compound according to the present invention and a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof can be used as an effective agent for treating glioma.
