Process for inductively hardening crankshafts comprises using the central axis (15) of the connecting peg to be hardened as the axis for the rotational movement of the crankshaft (2). An Independent claim is also included for a device for inductively hardening crankshafts (2) comprising an inductor (5) for each connecting peg to be hardened; a rotating device (6) for rotating the crankshaft; and an adjusting device (7) for receiving the crankshaft and for adjusting the central axis (15) of the connecting peg of the crankshaft as the axis for the rotational movement of the crankshaft. Preferred Features: The inductor encloses the peg to be hardened at least on the half of its periphery.
