A splice system (10) and method for linear connection of fishing lines (12, 14) include a female connector (18) and a male connecter (16). The female connector (18) has an outer surface, first (48) and second (50) opposite ends, and a longitudinal axis (15). The first end (48) is connected to a first fishing line section (12) and the second end (50) has an opening therein. The connector (18) has a co-axial interior feature (52) with a radial extent. The male connecter (16) has first and second opposite ends and a longitudinal axis (15). The second end is connected to a second fishing line section (14) and the first end is configured for coaxial insertion into the opening of the female connector (18). The second end has a radial extent greater than the radial extent of the interior feature (52) of the female connector (18). At least one of the connectors (16, 18) is resilient to allow passage of the second end of the male connecter (16) axially past the interior feature (52).
