PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a time from power-on to the start of a converter circuit without being accompanied by the increase of power consumption in equipment as a whole and a cost increase. SOLUTION: This power circuit is equipped with a switching power circuit 36 which supplies a drive display circuit of a plasma display with power, a power factor improving circuit 23 which is provided between the primary side of a switching transformer of the switching power circuit 36 and an AC power source 1, and a starting circuit 13 which is connected between the power factor improving circuit 23 and the AC power source 1. The starting circuit 13 is so constituted as to supply load power required for operation to a control circuit 17 for the power factor improving circuit 23 via a starting resistor only for a certain time after power-on.
