PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To greatly reduce coating defects, particularly, the coating defects generated before and after the joint section of a bulk roll and to sharply improve productivity. SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method of an optical film, a functional film is formed by coating coating liquid on the surface of a supporting body using a coating means 11 while a belt shaped and flexible supporting body 16 is continuously run. A plurality of adhesive rollers 22 to 24 are provided on the upstream side of the coating means and the front surface and/or the back surface are contacted to the surface of the adhesive rollers to remove foreign objects adhered onto the front surface and/or the back surface of the supporting body.
