PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical scanner capable of suppressing a temperature rise inside an image forming apparatus, and to obtain an image forming apparatus using the same. SOLUTION: In the optical scanner 6, each exposing light beam emitted from a plurality of light sources is made incident, deflected and scanned relative to a single deflector and, after transmitted through a single optical system, separately emitted to a plurality of photoreceptors arranged with equal spaces apart in the subscanning direction to form an electrostatic latent image on each photoreceptor. The lower part of the housing of the optical scanner 6 is designed to be a tapered face, in which the optical axis center expanding upward to the outside orthogonally to the optical axis is made the lowest part.
