An occlusion type NOx reduction catalyst coating structure in a diesel engine includes a plurality of coating layers containing a carrier(1). The carrier is formed of a codierite composite. The coating layers include an inner coating layer(3), and an outer coating layer(5). The inner coating layer is coated on the carrier. The inner coating layer is coated with an absorption material weak to thermal damage. The absorption material is formed of Ba, K, and Ca. The outer coating layer is formed on the inner coating layer. The outer coating layer is formed of Pt or Rh with high oxidation power.
