The present invention provides a composition for promoting the survival of skin flaps, a pharmaceutical composition for the treatment or management of skin flaps, and a pharmaceutical composition for the treatment or prophylaxis of skin conditions occurring after skin-flap operations. This composition comprises curcumin as an active ingredient. The curcumin which is an active ingredient of the composition of the present invention not only promotes the survival of skin flaps by ensuring smooth channelling of the blood flow to the skin flap, but also aids the healing of wounds after skin-flap operations and suppresses scars caused by skin-flap operations. Consequently, the composition of the present invention is highly likely to develop into an outstanding drug for the treatment and management of not only skin flaps themselves but also skin conditions caused by skin flaps. |
