The present invention relates to a health food composition containing echinochrome A as an active ingredient for weigh reduction; and an exercise capacity enhancement method using the same. According to the present invention, echinochrome A can be effective in reducing the weight of the human body and increasing the weight of organs. In the case of combination of echinochrome A and exercise, it is verified that an experimental animal exhibits enhanced exercise capacity. Accordingly, echinochrome A can be used for health food for exercise capacity enhancement and health food for weight control. According to the present invention, the exercise capacity enhancement method can be effectively used to enhance exercise capacity. Health food for exercise capacity enhancement includes 0.01-10 parts by weight of echinochrome A with respect to 100 parts by weight of the health food.
