An authentication method using a digital image and an application system for same are disclosed. The application system installed on a portable terminal according to one aspect of the present invention comprises: an image acquisition module for acquiring a digital image of a predetermined object by means of an image capturing means comprised in the portable terminal; and an insertion module for inserting inserted information into the acquired digital image, wherein if the digital image having the inserted information inserted therein is transmitted to a predetermined authentication system, the justification of the inserted information is determined by the authentication system, and if the justification of the inserted information is determined, the validity of the digital image or a user of the portable terminal is authenticated.
