A downhole device comprises an electric submersible motor 110, a pump 120 and an oil/water separator 200 having a well fluid inlet and first and second conduits. A redirector 250 is integrated with the first conduit and includes a flow-restrictor pocket connected to a re-injection conduit. A flow restrictor may be located in the flow restrictor pocket and a throttle located n the outlet of the restrictor, the inner diameter of the throttle being mechanically variable by a downhole tool relayed on a wireline, slickline or coiled tubing. Also disclosed is a downhole device comprising an oil/water separator and a removable flow restrictor located in either the water stream outlet or the oil stream outlet of the separator. Also disclosed is a method of downhole oil/water separation in which the flow restrictor is selected based on the quality of the downhole well fluid. |
