PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL display device which does not need to form a bank. SOLUTION: A pixel electrode 13 is connected with an SD line 10 via a contact hole part 18 formed on a flattened film 12. The tapered angleθof the edge part of the pixel electrode 13 is formed to be 40°or less. Accordingly, an organic EL layer 15 does not cause disconnection caused by a step on the edge part of the pixel electrode 13 and, therefore, an upper electrode 19 and the pixel electrode 13 are not short-circuited. At the contact hole part 18, organic EL layers 15, 16, 17 of three colors are formed so as to be superimposed on one another and, as the result, short-circuiting between the upper electrode 19 and the pixel electrode 13 due to the disconnection caused by the step of the organic EL layer 15 can be avoided. Thereby, the formation of the bank can be omitted in the organic EL display device and the manufacturing cost of the organic EL display device can be suppressed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
