A step stool apparatus has a front leg unit, a rear leg unit hingedly connected to the front leg unit, and a platform pivotably mounted at a pivot axis of the front leg unit. The platform has a top surface with a front edge and a rear edge, the front edge of the platform being positioned at or rearwardly of the pivot axis of the platform. The platform has a peripheral surface at a front end thereof that is positioned at or forwardly of the pivot axis. An angled surface extends from the peripheral surface toward the front edge of the top surface of the platform. The front edge of the top surface of the platform is positioned such that a downward force applied to the top surface at any location on the top surface will not cause the rear end of the platform to separate from abutment with the strut of the rear leg unit. |
