PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medium conveying device that can set a comparatively proper calculated moving amount in which information on the position of a medium detected by a detection means is reflected as a moving amount control value when making a mistake in calculation that the calculated moving amount is determined to be beyond a normal range, and also enhancing accuracy in a conveying amount of the medium, and a medium conveying control method and a recorder.SOLUTION: Based on images obtained by imaging the back surface of paper at regular time intervals, template matching processing is performed (S1 to S3) to calculate the computed moving amount (computed moving amount of a unit section) per unit driving time of the paper (S4). When the computed moving amount is within the normal range, and it is not a mistake in computation, the computed moving amount is set as the moving amount control value, meanwhile, when it is a mistake in computation that the computed moving amount is beyond the normal range, the moving amount of the unit section determined as the one in which the mistake in computation is made is calculated based on the normal computed moving amounts of the unit sections before and behind the unit section in which the mistake in computation is made in a speed area to which the unit section in which the mistake in computation is made belongs (S5, S7 to S11). |
