PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL display device polarization element which, in an outdoor or other strong external light environment, can significantly reduce reflection light emitted from a display screen and also raise a ratio (contrast) of display light from an organic light emitting diode (OLED) to the reflection light emitted from the display screen to improve visibility in the open air, and which, in an indoor or other weak external light environment too, maintains reflection preventive function, thereby exhibiting high visibility indoors and out, and an organic EL display device incorporating the polarization element.SOLUTION: The organic EL display device includes a circular polarization plate consisting of a linear polarization plate 2 and a λ/4 phase difference plate 3 containing a dichromic dye other than a photochromic compound and a polarization element using a photochromic compound in combination. |
