The present invention provides a laundry detergent release control method, comprising: after starting up, a washing machine computes, according to collected information, a corresponding first laundry detergent release amount, and displays the first laundry detergent release amount; and the washing machine detects and judges a variable about the first laundry detergent release amount, forms a second laundry detergent release amount and starts a washing program, and the washing machine releases laundry detergent in the first laundry detergent release amount or the second laundry detergent release amount. The present invention also provides a washing machine, comprising an automatic release device, a computer board and a display panel; and the automatic release device releases according to a laundry detergent release amount computed by the computer board, and the display screen is configured to display a first laundry detergent release amount and/or a second laundry detergent release amount in real time. The laundry detergent release control method and the washing machine provided by the present invention can solve the problem of impossibility of self control on a laundry detergent release amount of an existing automatic laundry detergent release washing machine by a user, and can meet the requirement on individualized clothes washing of the user.
