The problem addressed by the invention is that of establishing an adaptive flow manipulation that exhibits little modification of the surface. This problem is solved, according to the invention, by a flow control device (32) for manipulating a flow (12) of a fluid medium (14) at a flow-dynamic face (10) of a flow-dynamic profile body (34), comprising a sound-wave-producing device (36) for producing a standing sound wave (38) having spatially defined wave antinodes (40) and wave nodes (42) and/or a spatially defined focused sound pulse. The invention further relates to an addition, to a profile body provided therewith, to a corresponding flow control method, and to advantageous uses.
