<p>A method is disclosed for treating a web of paper or paperboard by way of spraying a layer of a web treatment agent to the surface of a moving web (1) from spray nozzles (3) so that the hit area (9) of a single spray nozzle (3) is smaller than the width of the web (1) and thus treating by means of the spray nozzles (3) at least a portion of the web width. The hit areas of the spray nozzles are controlled so that the application step directly makes the amount of applied web treatment agent equal to the desired final application layer thickness as to its specified quantity and deviation from the target quantity value. The overall amount of web treatment agent applied to the surface of the web (1) is gauged at a point downstream from the application point and, based on themeasurement result, the overall amount of the web treatment agentis controlled by way of adjusting the hit area of at least one spray nozzle (3) on the surface of the web (1).</p> |
