A system and a method for changing channels in a portable image receiver are provided to promptly select a desired channel at one time by simultaneously outputting multiple channels through one image. A key input unit(160) generates an electric signal corresponding to the channel change key inputted by a user. A plurality of antennas(120) receives plural receiving frequencies, and then converts the receiving frequencies into corresponding electric signals. A radio unit(130) constitutes respective channels by using the receiving signals, and analyzes the field strengths of respective receiving signal. A buffer unit(140) stores the receiving signals by channels according to the analyzed field strengths of signals. An image processing unit(150) converts the receiving signals into image signals. An image displaying unit(170) outputs the image signals through an image.
