The actuating device comprises a self-retaining device (54) with a pivoted latching part (20) and a twisting part (18). The twisting part is provided to rotate the latching part during an actuation process. The twisting part is supported by a cam mechanism (73). The rotatability of the twisting part is fixed by a guide rail. An independent claim is included for an actuating method for a valve with two self-retaining operating conditions.
