Provided are: a composite battery which is able to have a simple configuration with use of a conventional lead acid storage battery, while having an ability to reliably cool a lithium ion secondary battery to a temperature at which the lithium ion secondary battery can be used in a high temperature environment; and a composite battery cooling system. This composite battery 10 comprises a lead acid storage battery 12, a sub-battery 14, a heat transfer material 16 and a heat insulation material 18. The sub-battery 14 is arranged on a lateral surface 12b of the lead acid storage battery 12. The heat transfer material 16 has a heat transfer surface 16a and a heat transfer surface 16b, and is arranged between the lateral surface 12b of the lead acid storage battery 12 and one surface 14a of the sub-battery 14. The heat insulation material 18 is formed and arranged so as to cover surfaces of the sub-battery 14 other than the surface 14a and surfaces of the heat transfer material 16 other than the heat transfer surface 16a and the heat transfer surface 16b. With respect to this composite battery 10, the heat quantity Q2 transferred to the lead acid storage battery 12 from the sub-battery 14 via the heat transfer material 16 is larger than the quantity Q1 transferred to the sub-battery 14 from the outside via the heat insulation material 18. |
