PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an easy-to-handle and inexpensive spool valve with a spool position detector for directly detecting the position of a spool with high position accuracy without degrading its position detecting performance, while maintaining control valve performance. SOLUTION: The spool valve has a moving and positioning means for the spool 2 and detecting parts 2a, 2b provided on the spool 2 separately therefrom. It comprises rings 3a, 3b provided in stepped through-holes 22a, 22b into which detecting parts 2a, 2b can get access, contacts 4a, 4b for abutting on either the rings 3a, 3b or the detecting parts 2a, 2b, first and second spacers 5a, 5b and spacers 6a, 6b, and springs 12a, 12b for energizing the rings 3a, 3b.
