Fuel cell stack (100) is formed by a number of elements that are bonded together and which contains a sealing gasket (118) capable of operating at high temperatures. The gasket is formed from a mix of ceramic and a high temperature corrosion resistant alloy metal. The base layer is sprayed using a plasma, vacuum plasma or flame sprayed process.
