It is an object of the present invention to provide an electrochemical device adopting lithium titanate as an active material and having a sufficient output characteristic. It is another object of the present invention to provide a production method of an electrode material, an electrode, and a production method of the electrode material, to be used for the device. There can be obtained an electrochemical device-oriented electrode material, containing 90% or more of lithium titanate, and having a bulk density of 1.5 g/cm3 or more and a volume resistivity of 16 Omega.cm or less, by mixing the lithium titanate with an organic substance followed by heat treatment. Usage thereof allows for achievement of the objects.
