PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink-jet recorder which can inspect a recorded state on the same conditions even for a recording medium having different thickness and a surface condition. SOLUTION: An ink-jet recording head 1 moves to the scanning direction X with a drive belt 3 and performs recording operation to a recording medium 6. A pedestal 10 on which the ink-jet recording head 1 is laid is provided such that it allows forward and backward movement action to the recording medium 6 and adjusted so that it may have a predetermined interval according to the thickness and surface shape of the recording medium 6. A push member 26 is disposed on an inspecting sheet 21 of an inspection mechanism 20 provided outside a recording region, and the push member 26 is controlled by an air cylinder so that it moves forwardly and backwardly to the head 1. When the push member 26 is positioned in an inspection position, the inspecting sheet 21 approaches a nozzle surface of the head, so that a predetermined pattern can be recorded on the inspection sheet on the same conditions without being influenced by wind or the like.
