PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for detecting temperature for a head driving circuit capable of detecting the temperature for the head driving circuit for driving a recording head without using a temperature sensor, an image forming apparatus and a method for detecting the temperature for the head driving circuit. SOLUTION: A head temperature operating part 55 provided in a head sequence part 32 of a printer 11 operates the temperature of a trapezoidal wave forming circuit 61 based on the electric current value per dot and the number of dots counted by a dot counter 52. In more detail, a heat quantity addition processing part 67 successively adds the heat value calculated based on the electric current value per dot and the number of the dots to the initial temperature when an electric source is supplied set by an initial value setting part 65, and on the other hand, a heat quantity reduction processing part 68 successively reduces the quantity of heat dissipation on every elapse of unit time clocked by a timer 41. A dot electric current quantity correcting part 66 acquires a consumed electric current of the trapezoidal wave corrected by a wave form correction processing part 53 by correcting a basic consumed electric current of the basic trapezoidal wave.
