PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grooving method preventing burrs from occurring when a metal member is cut for forming a groove. SOLUTION: This grooving method forms a plurality of grooves in the metal member 20 to be cut by moving a multi-cutter 10 formed by stacking a plurality of disk cutters 14 while rotating. The grooving method includes: the cutting step of cutting the metal member 20 to be cut to a predetermined depth so that a straight line connecting the first ridge line 21a of the metal member 20 and the rotating shaft C of the multi-cutter 10 is parallel to the advancing direction of the disk cutter 14; a first cutting step of moving the disk cutter 14 until the rotating is positioned on a vertical line M extending through the second ridge line 21b of the metal member 20; and the extraction step of extracting the disk cutter 14 from the metal member 20 to be cut.
