The method involves directing diverging radiation bundles (3) form a light source (1) to a section (4) of a surface (5) to be tested, and recording of two images of an recording area using an image recording device (2) i.e. charge coupled device-camera. The recorded images are compared, and the deviations of the images are determined by an evaluation device using a method such as difference image analysis method, histogram analysis method, threshold value analysis method or adaptive threshold value analysis method and spectral analysis method. An independent claim is also included for a diverging light source for application in the method for quality testing of surfaces.
