PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for creating a roll by winding a glass ribbon, capable of forming a roll having a straight side wall.SOLUTION: When an inter-layer material (20) and a glass ribbon (10) are wound together, for forming a roll (40), the inter-layer material (20) and the glass ribbon (10) are supplied through different supply passages, in which the supply passage of the glass ribbon (10) comprises a free loop (19) for reducing tension applied to the glass ribbon (10). The inter-layer material (20) is supplied from an inter-layer material supply roll (22), and a brake mechanism (26) for applying brake force to the inter-layer material supply roll (22) so as to provide force for resisting traction force of winding, is connected to the inter-layer material supply roll (22).
