An over-tube for an endoscope is provided with: a tube body having formed therein a first lumen (3) into which the insertion section of the endoscope is inserted; a gripping section changeable in shape, the gripping section being capable of coming into contact, inside the first lumen (3), with the outer surface of the insertion section, the contact of the gripping section with the outer surface of the insertion section enabling the gripping section to hold the insertion section so that the insertion section is positioned relative to the first lumen (3); and an operation section (20) mounted to the tube body. The operation section (20) is connected to an end of the tube body so as to be rotatable relative to the tube body about a line parallel to the centerline of the first lumen (3). The rotation of the operation section (20) switches the state of the insertion section of the endoscope between a gripped state in which the insertion section is positioned relative to the first lumen (3) of the tube body by the gripping section and a released state in which the insertion section can move forward and backward and rotate within the first lumen. |
