A compressor includes a shell formed from a piece of material having first, second, third, and fourth ends. The third and fourth ends extend between the first and second ends and are coupled to one another. The first and second ends form longitudinal ends of the shell. The first end includes an edge having first and second protrusions extending longitudinally outwardly therefrom. The edge includes a stepped region at a location where the third end extends longitudinally beyond a portion of the edge proximate the fourth end. A partition abuts the first and second protrusions, is coupled to the shell at the first end, and includes an opening therethrough. A compression mechanism is supported within the shell and includes a discharge passage in communication with the opening in the partition. |
