The self-propelled device has a guidable chassis (2) with a pair of rear wheels (7) and a power supply unit (5) for equipment and for propelling a mill (8), a milling roller (10) and a milling transmission (9). The roller extends transverse to the driving direction. The power supply unit is inserted transverse to the driving direction and over a first belt drive with an intermediate shaft (12) and a second belt drive coupled to the transmission. On the intermediate shaft, a tensioning arrangement (18) for the two belt drives is provided and connected over two axes and linked at the chassis.
