ENERGY ABSORBING SEAT FRAME

A seat assembly for an automotive vehicle includes a seat cushion and a seat back for supporting a seat occupant. The seat back includes a seat back frame having a pair of spaced apart side members. A side bolster frame is coupled to each one of the side members for supporting the seat occupant during lateral accelerations of the automotive vehicle. An energy absorbing member is coupled between each side bolster frame and the seat back frame for absorbing energy exerted upon the seat back frame in a rear impact to the automotive vehicle thereby controlling deformation of the seat back frame.
