<p>An endobronchial tube assembly has a shaft (10) with two passageways, which open into the left and right lungs respectively. A selector (2) at the machine end (20) of the assembly has a plate (50) with three apertures (52, 53 and 54), which is rotatable between front and base plates (30 and 60) both having two apertures (32 and 33, 61 and 62) communicating with respective passageways along the shaft (10) . When the rotatable plate (50) is in a central position, two of its apertures (52 and 54) align with respective apertures (32, 61 and 33, 62) through the other plates (30 and 60) so both passageways are open and both lungs can.be ventilated. To isolate one or other lung, the rotatable plate (50) is rotated to the left or right so that it blocks the apertures to one passageway and the other apertures open through the third aperture (53) in the plate.</p> |
