383,127. High-tension switches. LANGE, E., 73, Grossbeerenstrasse, Berlin. Feb. 13, 1932, No. 4308. Convention date, Feb. 16, 1931.. [Class 38 (v).] Arc-rupturing.-A switch has a break-point 15 arranged inside a pressure, chamber 14, which has a nozzle 12. opposite another breakpoint 6, so that the increase of pressure in the chamber 14 caused by the arc at the break point 15, produces an air or gas current which is directed on to the break-point 6, to extinguish the arc produced there. The chamber 14 has a valve 16 which is closed by the increase of pressure in the chamber 14, and through which air is supplied to the chamber 14. The air passes in through a valve 19 and a compartment 17 containing carbon-dioxide snow or similar cooling means 18. The compartment 4 in which the break-point 6 is situated has recesses 13 below the break-point, in which additional cooling means may be contained, and also discharge passages 9 are provided to lead the gases upwards and through a valve 10. Arcing horns 8 are provided for the breakpoint 6. The break-points 6, 15 may be toggle actuated or they may be actuated through wheels engaging with teeth 7a. A resistance 20 may be provided in the shunt circuit containing the break-point 15. The break-points may be arranged in series or parallel. |
