It is possible to provide a position information detection device, method, and program which can detect position information with a high accuracy by using a simple identification mark and improve the successful position detection ratio even when a cheap imaging element is used. The position information detection device includes: an identification mark (102) including three reference points arranged at a predetermined interval on the same straight line on a display (103); an imaging unit (203) which images the identification mark (102); an identification mark extraction unit (261) which extracts an identification mark image from the captured image; a reference point extraction unit (206) which extracts the reference points from the identification mark; a position information calculation unit (207) which calculates the position information on the imaging unit (203) with respect to the display region according to the coordinate system specified by the reference points; and an instruction position calculation unit (271) which assumes relative positions of the respective extracted reference points as projection conversions of the relative positions of the respective reference points of the identification mark (102) and calculates the instruction position of the imaging unit (203) according to the reverse projection conversion corresponding to the projection conversions.
