Azidoalkylformals, their preparation and use

Azidoalkylformals of general formula: in which n is an integer such that 1 & n & 3 and R1 and R2, which are identical or different, denote H or CH3, are used as plasticizers in solid pyrotechnic compositions. Solid pyrotechnic compositions consisting of a plasticized and filled polymeric matrix include the plasticizer comprising an azidoalkylformal corresponding to the general formula (I) and a filler comprising at least one inorganic oxidizer or an organic nitro explosive. The azidoalkylformals of general formula (I) are relatively stable and relatively insensitive and their synthesis is simple and relatively inexpensive.
