A system for electronically signing a document and verifying the signor's identity includes a computer having a processor, an input device, and a memory. A biometric scanner is in electronic communication with the computer for scanning at least one biometric feature of a signor. An instruction set is stored within the memory for execution by the processor wherein execution of at least a portion of the instruction set operates to create an electronic signature and integrates at least one biometric characteristic of the biometric feature within the electronic signature.
