The burner (1) has a supply channel (7) arranged in a housing (3) and supplying air/gas mixture to the burner. An insert (5) is arranged in the housing. A main channel (27) is provided in the insert and connected with the supply channel via openings (29) in the insert. The openings extend transverse to a flow direction of the air/gas mixture in the supply channel and the main channel. The main channel is arranged coaxial to the supply channel. An air/gas supply region (19) i.e. ring space, is provided between a section (15) of the insert and the housing.
