The converter connection assembly comprises a generator (SG) with variable power output for generating medium voltage. A resistance-chopper (Ch1-Chn) is switched between each converter (SR1-SRn) and the generator. A bypass switch (S1-Sn) is attached parallel to the resistance chopper in the direct current voltage intermediate circuit. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a method for controlling the start of a converter connection assembly; and (2) a method for controlling the failure of a converter connection assembly.
