PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect the position of an object by constructing a mechanical interface for connecting plural motors to the object to apply axial force and the torque on the axis to the object in a simulator device for training the operation of a long object such as a catheter or the like. SOLUTION: A surgical simulation device related to catheter treatment is so constructed that a wire 10' and catheters 12' and l4' which are long objects are inserted in an actuator assembly 50 for receiving an electric driving signal 52 from a drive/amplifier circuit 54 and sending an electric detection signal 56 to the circuit 54. The assembly 50 incorporates a sensor for detecting the axial transfer and rotation of the wire 10' and the catheters 12' and 14', and the position information on rotation and transfer is sent as a detection signal 56 through a bus 58 to an operation terminal 60. The operation terminal 60 executes a simulation program and an image showing the movement of an object along the simulated blood vessel is displayed on a display 62.
