PLANE LIGHT SOURCE AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY HAVING THE SAME FOR IMPROVING LUMINANCE AND UNIFORMITY OF LUMINANCE AND MAXIMIZING DISPLAY QUALITY

PURPOSE: A plane light source and an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) are provided to improve luminance and uniformity of luminance by generating light having a plane distribution and to maximize display quality by diffusing the generated light. CONSTITUTION: A plane light source(30) includes a body(100) and a light diffusion unit(200). The body has a flat space and projects light generated from the space. The light diffusion unit is formed at the portion of the body from which the light is projected and changes the light into diffused light. The body includes the first substrate having the first face projecting the light and the second face opposite to the first face, the second substrate facing the first substrate, a sealant disposed along the edges of the first and second substrates to form a sealed space between the first and second substrates, barriers for segmenting the space into a plurality of light-emitting spaces, and a light generator for generating light in the light-emitting spaces.
