PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to effectively utilize a waiting time etc. without anxiety by preventing the theft of laundry articles. SOLUTION: In a coin-operated laundry utilization system, a washing machine is provided with: a means for locking a door when starting washing; a means for transmitting finish information to a server when finishing the washing; and a means for unlocking the door when receiving unlocking instruction information from the server. The server is provided with: a means for storing the machine number of the washing machine in association with terminal identification information of a portable terminal set in the case of receiving the machine number from the portable terminal set; a means for transmitting washing finish reporting information to the portable terminal set of the terminal identification information stored in association with the machine number of the washing machine in the case of receiving the finish information from the washing machine; and a means for transmitting the unlocking instruction information to the washing machine of the machine number stored in association with the terminal identification information of the portable terminal set in the case of receiving the unlocking information from the portable terminal set.
