PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new microorganism efficiently carrying out a degrading treatment of a phenolic compound even in wastewater and soil containing the phenolic compound at a high concentration. SOLUTION: The new microorganism SB0402 strain (FERM P-20319) belongs to the genus Corynebacterium and has a degrading ability for the phenolic compound. A method for the degrading treatment of the phenolic compound comprises carrying out the degrading treatment of the phenolic compound with the microorganism belonging to the genus Corynebacterium.
